Dog toy guidelines?

I'm wondering if there is any resource available on which toy size/material would be most appropriate for my dog? 

Some info:

Springer Spaniel, ~45 lbs, 5 years old, pretty heavy chewer, scared of cat toys for some reason??

Any general guideline lists would be helpful.
